Great Car Services

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT

When the check engine light is on, it is important to get your car evaluated as soon as possible. A1 Auto Repair & Tires has the knowledge necessary to interpret check engine light codes, handle any necessary maintenance or repairs, and get your car back on the road safely without you having to worry about a lit "check engine light."

OIL CHANGE

Your engine depends on oil to function. It helps keep engine parts cool by lowering friction, reducing wear, providing lubrication, forming a seal between the pistons, rings, and cylinder walls, and providing lubrication. Carbon and varnish accumulation would be hazardous to the engine if new oil didn't clean the engine.

BRAKES

The technicians at A1 Auto Repair & Tires know every component of your brake system inside and out and can fix brakes on any make or model. This includes everything from the brake pedal to hydraulic brake fluid, brake master cylinder to power brake booster, drum brakes to disc brakes, and electronic anti-lock brake sensors.

AC & HEAT REPAIR

We recommend that you have your heating and cooling system checked annually to make sure you’re not stuck in the freezing winters or the warm summer months. Stop by local A1 Auto Repair & Tires to get an expert opinion on what we can do to fix your auto A/C or heating problems.

NEW TIRES

Your vehicle's tires are the first and only contact with the road, so it is important to choose the right set when replacing them. A1 Auto Repair & Tires has Certified Service experts that will handle all of your tire needs. From checking tire wear to tire pressure our team can help you find new tires for your vehicle.

TIRE REPAIR

Your tires will be inspected, rotated, and balanced by A1 Auto Repair & Tires professionals in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. When it comes time to change them, we'll figure out what size and type of tire you need for the automobile and make sure it's mounted correctly.

FAQ

Popular Question

Engine oil not only loses its lubrication quality or viscosity over time, but it also collects acids and other by products of combustion such as water. These substances are enemies of bearings, other metal surfaces, seals and gaskets. Even though oils are continuing to increase in lubrication quality, the substances in suspension do damage to the internal engine components.

Changing oil and filter on a 3 month or 3,000 mile schedule is “good insurance” against the possible damage that can occur. If the facility that is performing the oil change is inspecting the vehicle properly, you will save money by identifying a need before it becomes an emergency. It is always wise to make sure a certified technician is handling your vehicle.

It is typical that they not need replacement for at least 60,000 miles under normal driving conditions. Replacing worn belts reduces the chance of breakdowns, the chance of damaging other components when they break and insures that all belt-driven components operate normally. Replacing worn hoses reduces the chance of failure that could cause engine overheating, and allows for testing of the coolant.

It is best to have the cooling system flushed at the intervals recommended by the manufacturer. Having the system flushed once a year is commonly recommended if the vehicle is driven regularly. Coolant breaks down over time, becoming corrosive which can cause premature failure of gaskets and seals. The idea is to replace the coolant before it gets contaminated to avoid costly repairs.

Every car is different based on how you drive as an individual, as well as the make and model of your car. With that said, your brakes should generally last around 50,000 miles before needing to be repaired.

There are a variety of factors that go into giving a quote for brake repair. It largely depends on two key things: (1) whether you just need new brake pads or if you need new routers as well. (2) The make and model of your car. Feel free to call us to get an accurate quote!

Rotating your tires every 3rd oil change or 9,000 miles (based on tire application) helps insure the life of the tire and its warranty. Avoidance of this can cause tire damage (cupping), and may make the steering of the vehicle difficult. Pay close attention to the tread depth of your tires to observe that the wear patterns are equal.
It is best to have the differential and transfer case fluids replaced at the intervals recommended by the manufacturer under normal driving conditions. Under severe conditions it may be advisable to have the fluids changed more often. The fluids in these units do become contaminated over time, and during normal use can lose their lubrication qualities.
It is best to have the transmission fluid flushed at the intervals recommended by the manufacturer under normal driving conditions. Under severe service it may be advisable to have it flushed more often. Transmission fluid breaks down over time due to the extreme temperatures during operation. The idea is to replace the fluid before it looks dark or smells burned so the transmission can operate at its best. This will prolong the life of the transmission and head off costly repairs and inconvenience for you.

While it is always best to let the experts evaluate your brakes, the two most obvious signs that you need new rotors is if you experience a vibration when braking or if you hear a grinding noise.

The rotors on your vehicle can last anywhere from 30k to 70k miles depending on your driving habits. In some cases, they can be machined to increase the lifetime of your rotors.

What Customer Says

Needed a side mirror reattached to my truck after a ride on the auto train.  They are incredibly quick and pleasant people.  Price was very fair.  I was in and out in 15 minutes.  If I lived in sanford I would use these folks for my car repair needs without hesitation.

Dawn B

The guys there were amazingly fast. I needed to put the car in the auto train but I was told that it is too wide. I was recommended this place by the train staff and the speed and efficiency in which they removed the mirror was amazing. From pulling in and leaving it couldn't have been more than 8 minutes
